Frequently Asked Questions
We tried to anticipate a few of your questions, below. Can’t find what you’re looking for?
Send us an email.
How do I apply?
To apply, please click the button “apply now” that can be found on every page of our website.
What does it cost?
We have restricted the number of members for COVID safety to be as conservative and safety-conscious as possible. In the future, we look forward to offering more flexible membership options with related prices.
Please inquire about costs after you fill out an application and we will also do everything we can to make modifications for candidates in order to be able to afford a membership.
What are your hours?
Members have their own key for unlimited access to the space provided there is not a private event.
On the weekend, members are welcome to use the space when it is not booked for programming or private events, by emailing the founder. The intent is for members to have as much freedom and flexibility to use the space as needed, to give them time and space.
Do you offer childcare?
We do not offer childcare. The Delta was designed specifically for adults and their needs because, as much of parenthood is focused on children, we need a space of our own as well. With the following caveats.
There will be events and times where children are welcome, and where programming designed for children will be offered. We will also host a number of open events where all are welcome.
In addition, we hope to offer childcare in future iterations and locations. And, if you are a parent in need of childcare, we would be happy to share babysitter and childcare recommendations with you.
How will you keep me safe? What is your COVID-19 safety plan?
Please see our detailed plan that includes what we have done, and will continue to do, and what we ask of you, our members and visitors to keep everyone safe. If you think there is more that we should be doing, please share at info@thedelta.co.
What’s your guest policy?
Members are asked not to bring guests, unless they have been pre-approved. This is to maintain the safety and security of all our members. In the future, members will be able to bring guests, depending on their chosen membership policy.
Can I put my membership on hold?
The membership commitment is seasonal. If you find that you will not need your membership for an upcoming season (or quarter), then with one month notice you can ask for your membership to be put on hold.
Do I have to be a mom?
No. You do not have to be a mom to join the Delta. You will find that our focus and programming tends to be geared towards maternal health and wellness, as that is our passion and purpose, but we welcome all people, mothers and their allies.
How do you address equity and access?
Importantly, The Delta is a space that believes in equity and access.
We renounce discrimination in all of its forms. The Delta proudly supports the New York City Human Rights Law and prohibits discrimination based upon age, alienage or citizenship status, color, disability, gender (including sexual harassment), caregiver status, gender identity, marital status and partnership status, national origin, pregnancy and lactation accommodations, race, religion or creed, sexual orientation, and/or status as a veteran or active military service member.
We are a membership organization located in a small space (750 square feet), so by design, we can't serve all people all the time. We also have to pay our rent, so there is a membership fee that might seem prohibitive for some. That said, we will do everything we can to welcome all applicants. In the application process, please indicate your interest in a grant or sponsorship. Additionally, we will work to provide as much content for free as possible, donate our space to social impact causes when we can, and look for additional ways to increase equity and access. If you have ideas for us about how we can best strike the balance between needing to pay the bills and wanting to be of service, please let us know at hello@thedelta.co.
What if I don’t live in the neighborhood? Are there other locations planned?
We plan to focus on this location for now. We are open to expanding, and love the idea of collectives sprouting in neighborhoods around the country, but first things first. We are starting here. When we get that right, we will look ahead.
What do I do if I have difficulty accessing this website?
If you are having difficulty accessing information on this website, please email hello@thedelta.co and let us know. We have worked to make this website as accessible as possible, but we want to hear from you if this wasn't your experience.
